Website Filtering
Website filtering remains a useful tool in fighting malware and spyware, in part because some hackers and malware purveyors have simply gotten lazy. Rather than maintaining their own infrastructure, many use commercially available DNS infrastructure, just like everyone else. Using domain names and DNS makes it easy to move around from one provider to another, but it also makes it easy to disconnect them from your stuff... using the same domain names to filter out the websites and domains they use to disseminate and control their malware. It's not so much that they would notice that you had disappeared, but merely that you are temporarily not available to their malware domains. It's easy, elegant and effective.
LAD's website filtering is intuitive and easy to implement with options to blacklist, whitelist and create exceptions, allowing you to fine-tune the web access of the individual members of your organization according to their needs.
Black- and whitelisting may be further enhanced with enforcement schedules and manual switches for toggling specific domains or groups of domains on and off.
Additionally, LAD automatically logs the DNS requests of each client, making it possible to check where on the web each client went (or tried to go), even attempts to access blocked websites. These logs are particularly handy for fine-tuning the white- and blacklist entries, to best provide appropriate restrictions and exceptions.
